Here’s a unique concept for hiding your stretch marks – tattooing! If you are tired of trying various methods of hiding your stretch marks, you could tattoo over the stretch marks with some creative design. Don’t laugh – this is a method used by a number of younger people. Rather than have their marks removed surgically, they elect to incorporate them into a stylish tattoo design.

But wait just a minute! Can this really be an option? Well, it is a little far out and I’m not sure how well received it would be on a middle aged person, but if it sounds good to you, why not check it out. A professional tattoo studio can help you select a design that is a real piece of artwork and might help hide your stretch marks. But before you do, read the following pros and cons of using this method:

1) Tattooing over stretch marks can be a bit more complicated than the normal tattoo, as that area of the skin is either very thin or very thick. For stretch marks that are very thin, chances are that the tattoo artist will not want to tattoo over those stretch marks, because that could lead to making them worse.

2) Consider where your stretch marks are located and how their size. If they are on your torso and are rather large, it is understandable that you would want to get rid of them. But unless you want a large tattoo on your torso anyway, it would be a better idea to not tattoo your stretch marks.

3) If your stretch marks are small and are in your hip area, you could tattoo those stretch marks with a nice little design that is both attractive and appealing. Be aware, however, that the older you are, the less attractive the tattoo will look if your skin is the least bit wrinkly.

4) Here is a BIG consideration - if your threshold for pain is low, perhaps it would not be the best idea to get a tattoo. Remember that the tattooing process involves a needle repeatedly injecting ink into the upper layer of your skin.

5) If you go through with the tattoo procedure and then decide at some point that you don’t want that tattoo anymore, it will take a laser procedure to get it off.

6) Tattoos, depending on their size, can be quite expensive. It might be even more expensive to tattoo over your stretch marks than more traditional treatments  because of the extra ink and the artist’s time used during the process.

Well, I hope that you consider these factors in making your decision. To tattoo over stretch marks to hide their appearance seems a bit extreme when there are effective stretch mark removal products on the market today that involve a lot less risk, cost, and pain. But of course, the choice is yours!
